BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter with totals of 59.6%/2,664/18/12 as a senior after 62.6%/2,654/15/5 the prior year.
POSITIVES: Nice-sized pocket passer who displays a good sense of what's happening on the field. Patient, buys time for receivers, and
shows a sense of timing. Feels the pressure, stands in the pocket and takes a hit in order to get the ball off. Goes through
receiver progressions, and takes the safe underneath outlet rather than force the ball downfield. Excellent sense of overall
awareness and in tune with his receivers. Poised and rarely gets rattled. Natural looking off the safety. Uses all his targets,
and throws with good fundamentals. Accurate with good pass placement in the short and intermediate field.
NEGATIVES: The further downfield or out to the flanks he throws the ball, the less accurate he is. Not an elusive passer or quarterback
who picks up yardage with his legs. Struggled during his senior season, and did not capitalize on the momentum he had previously
built.
ANALYSIS: Brandstater is a terrific short and intermediate range passer with the skills to be used at the next level in a timing offense.
He's done a terrific job commanding the offense, and he could be a real steal in this draft for a team willing to be patient
in developing his skills.
