BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his sophomore campaign. Senior totals included 61.1%/2,670/22/14 after
64.4%/3,091/30/14 as a junior. Owns nine career offensive records at UMass, and has thrown for more than 2,000 passing yards
every season since his freshman campaign.
POSITIVES: Coen was a wonderful college quarterback at UMass and very productive the four years he lined up under center. He possesses
a great head for the position, but his size and inability to throw the vertical pass make him nothing more than a third quarterback
for a timing offense at the next level.
NEGATIVES: Lacks a big-time arm, struggles trying to get speed on throws, and a little wild when he tries to put extra velocity on the
ball. Short, and at times, seemingly has trouble seeing over the offensive line. Not accurate downfield, forces the ball into
coverage on occasion, and not much of a threat carrying the ball.
ANALYSIS: Solid short-yardage passer with great intangibles, yet he has marginal size and arm strength. Patient in the pocket, senses
pressure, and knows where his receivers are on the field. Moves around the pocket to give himself a better view of the field,
displays outstanding field sense and overall awareness. Spreads the ball around to all his receivers, puts touch on throw
and displays a sense of timing. Natural looking off the safety, consistently finds the open wideout on the field, and throws
a catchable pass.
