BIOGRAPHY: Junior college transfer who broke into the starting lineup as a senior, posting 73/16.5/9, leading Hawaii in tackles for loss
and sacks. Awarded all-Conference honors last year. Started one game at defensive end as a junior, yet he still posted 34/8.5/7
and was initially awarded all-Conference honors.
POSITIVES: Athletic college defensive end who plays bigger and faster than his size/speed numbers. Displays solid first step quickness,
plays with good lean and body control. Uses an array of moves to get off blocks or protect himself, constantly doubled by
opponents and a relentless pass rusher who is also fast in back side pursuit. Strings plays out laterally, can drop off the
line and effectively handles coverage assignments in zone blitzes. Fast in every direction of the field and covers a good
amount of area. Wraps up tackling.
NEGATIVES: Slow shedding blocks and handled by opposing tight ends. Possesses poor measurables and lacks the great size to be an every
down defensive end.
ANALYSIS: Veikune is an intense prospect who gets the most from his abilities. He's a solid football player who will be productive in
the right system or with proper coaching. Veikune may need time to develop at the next level, but he is worth the investment
of a top 75 selection.
