Jerome Murphy
Round 3, Pick 65
Position: CB
Class: 5Sr
School: South Florida
Conference: Big East
HT: 6-0.5
WT: 196
40 Time: 4.50
Biography: Full-time starter the past two seasons and awarded All-Conference honors as a senior. Numbers last season included career totals of 77/4/8 after 67/2/5 as a junior.

Positives: Nice-sized cornerback with a solid game. Fluid flipping his hips off the line, loses nothing transitioning with opponents, and plays with an aggressive style. Works hard to get off blocks, will bump opponents throughout the route, and fights to get a hand in to defend the throw. Quick up the field to defend the run, displays a nice burst to the ball out of his plant, and plays with a good degree of suddenness.

Negatives: Must improve his footwork in reverse and very quick to leave his backpedal. Slow to react and possesses just average instincts.

Analysis: Murphy is a physically gifted cornerback with a nice degree of upside potential and a defender opposing quarterbacks purposely staying away from. He must improve the details of his game but possesses the underlying skills to develop into a second cornerback for an NFL team.

Projection: 3rd
