BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter who lined up at defensive end and linebacker. All-Conference and All-America choice the past two seasons.
Named CAA Defensive Player of the Year as a senior after totals of 93/15.5/7.5. Junior numbers included 85/17/10.
POSITIVES: Belcher has been a tremendous pass rusher in college, and he makes an inordinate number of plays behind the line of scrimmage.
He has the size and speed to stand up over tackle at outside linebacker in the NFL, yet he must learn to diagnose the action
and make plays in reverse.
NEGATIVES: Struggles defending the run, and will be pushed off the line of scrimmage by opposing linemen. Occasionally bites on the play-action
pass or ball fakes. Marginally instinctive. Rarely asked to make plays moving in reverse the past two seasons.
ANALYSIS: Explosive college pass rusher who makes plays in every direction of the field. Displays great quickness in his game, fluid
moving laterally, and fast in every direction of the field. Breaks down well, collapses from the outside, making plays against
the run, and quickly changes direction or immediately alters his angle of attack. Squeezes through blocks working to get up
the field, rarely off his feet, and hustles to make plays. Shows an inside move, and effectively works his hands to get off
blocks.
