BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors after his sophomore and senior seasons. Played primarily at center for Tennessee
State, yet hes experienced at all the old offensive line positions.
POSITIVES: Newton has been a terrific college center and is one of the more underrated players at his position in this draft. He offers
starting potential at the next level for a team that patiently develops his skills.
NEGATIVES: Plays a bit stiff, which hurts his ability to finish blocks. Not a true mauler in the middle of the line. Lacks the great
size for a center.
ANALYSIS: Underrated center who's been productive and durable on the small-school level. Quickly gets into blocks, strong at the point,
and turns defenders off the line. Immediately gets his hands into defenders, effectively fights them with them throughout
the action, and jolts opponents with good punch. Effectively handles one-on-one blocking situations, and plays with a nasty
attitude, working hard until the whistle blows. Quarterbacks the offensive line and works well with teammates. Effective with
shotgun snap. Quick to the second level, and above-average skills in motion.
