Biography: Full-time starter the past two seasons awarded All-Conference honors as a senior. Led Kansas in receiving last year posting career numbers of 102/985/8 after 97/1045/8 as a junior. Began his college career at quarterback and was the Jayhawks starting signal caller for eight games as a freshman before moving to receiver midway through his sophomore season.
Positives: Strong, reliable possession receiver and that's displayed an improving game. Comes back to the ball out of breaks, effectively uses his frame to shield away opponents and nicely adjusts to the errant throw. Quickly releases off the line into routes, battles defensive backs throughout the action, and plays a very physical game. Regularly goes over the middle and exposes himself to the big hit in order to come away with the reception. Makes the difficult over-the-shoulder catch down the field. Takes a pounding yet holds onto the ball.
Negatives: Marginal quickness and displays little in the way of speed in his game. Poor route runner who slows into breaks and shows limited sharpness.
Analysis: Meier did a solid job since moving to receiver three seasons ago and offers the size, strength, and pass-catching skill to be a fourth receiver in a possession role.
