PLAYERS
Biography: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors since his junior season. Led Texas in tackles as a senior, when he posted 102/11/2
lining up at middle linebacker. Junior totals included a team-leading 112 tackles and four tackles for loss.
Positives: Underrated linebacker coming off a disappointing senior season. Explodes up the field in run defense, sells out on the blitz and wraps up tackling. Quickly changes direction, covers a lot of area on the field, and fast out to the sidelines. Gets depth on pass drops, remains disciplined with assignments, and is a solid athlete. Effective in pursuit and makes plays sideline to sideline. Negatives: Does not consistently take proper angles to the action. Undersized and gets caught up in the trash. Shows hesitation in his game. Analysis: Muckelroy was justifiably one of the higher-rated outside linebackers coming into the 2009 season, but injuries necessitated his move to the middle, where he was out of position. He possesses the skills to start on a weak side for an NFL team in the near future as he develops his game. Projection: 4th |
