SELECTED BY: Cowboys Round 4 (20)
SI Grade
2.70
Position: Class:
Junior
School: Conference: Ht., Wt.:
6-2.5, 261
40 Time:
4.92

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his sophomore season. Junior totals included 21/12.5/11 after 44/12.5/6 the prior year.

POSITIVES: Disruptive pass rusher best making plays up the field. Plays with terrific balance, body control, and leverage. Rarely off his feet, explosive off the edge, and makes plays in every direction of the field. Fights with his hands to get off blocks, quickly changes direction and shows ability in pursuit. Keeps his pads low to the ground, and stays within his pass rush angles.

NEGATIVES: Handled at the point of attack by tight ends, and struggles defending the run. Timed poorly in the 40 at the combine, and lacks a large, bulky frame.

ANALYSIS: Williams was a terrific pass rusher at Texas Tech, yet he is a prospect with an NFL position yet to be defined. He lacks the size to be a defensive end, and he may not have the speed to play linebacker. Williams will start off as a pass rush specialist in the NFL, and he could develop into a productive starter as he physically matures and add bulk to his frame.

PROJECTION: Free Agent
