BIOGRAPHY: Moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore and totaled 49/20/12. Awarded all-Conference and All-American honors last season.
Defensive reserve as a redshirt freshman, seeing extensive time on special teams.
POSITIVES: Explosive college pass rusher who makes a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. Good athlete, fires off the snap with
an explosive first step, quickly changes direction, and shows speed moving in any area of the field. Fast down the line of
scrimmage, shows ability in pursuit, and also makes plays in space. Breaks down well, plays with leverage, and rarely off
his feet. Covers a lot of area on the field, and is a feisty defender who does not back down to a challenge. Deceptively strong,
displays good hand technique protecting himself and slides off blocks.
NEGATIVES: Slow locating the ball on occasion. Struggles getting off blocks at the point of attack. Likes to pin his ears back, rush
up the field, and overruns plays.
ANALYSIS: Maybin is a sensational athlete who takes over games with his ability to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. A tough
defender with a feisty attitude, he reminds us of former first-round pick John Abraham, now with the Atlanta Falcons. Maybin
needs to physically mature and complete his game, yet he offers a large degree of upside for the next level.
