BIOGRAPHY: Junior-college transfer awarded all-Conference and All-America honors the past two years. Led the team in tackles as a senior,
posting 64/20.5/8. Junior totals included 65/22.5/8. CIAA Defensive Player of the Year the past two seasons.
POSITIVES: Quick, wide-bodied lineman who dominated a lower level of competition. Plays with good pad level, quickly changes direction,
and moves well laterally. Powerful, pushes defenders up the field, and makes a lot of plays on the football. Overwhelms opponents,
and then defeats blocks on his way to the action. Consistently doubled by opponents. Quickly gets off the snap with a nice
first step.
NEGATIVES: Displays poor hand technique and does not do a good job protect himself or disengaging from blocks once engaged at the point.
Seems poorly conditioned, and does not consistently play with a sense of urgency. Marginal burst of closing speed.
ANALYSIS: Ellis is a physically talented lineman who was an outstanding small school player, and he possesses the skills to make an
NFL roster. If he does what is necessary off-the-field to become a better football player, he could stick around the NFL for
a while.
