PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after posting 54/14/8 while also intercepting one pass. Junior
totals included a team-leading 12.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. Posted 16 tackles for loss as a sophomore.
Positives: Explosive college defensive end who plays bigger and faster than his measurables. Fires off the snap with a great first step, breaks down well, and plays with leverage. Quickly changes direction, fast moving in every area of the field, and effectively uses his hands to protect himself. Constantly doubled by opponents and plays with terrific balance, body control, and rarely off his feet. Shows ability in pursuit. Negatives: Lacks natural bulk and controlled at the point by tight ends. Does not time well in the 40. Considered a ?me? sort of player. Analysis: Young has been a disruptive force the past three seasons and a defender constantly making plays behind the line of scrimmage. Despite his size/speed numbers, Young is explosive and athletic on the field. Likely to be used as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, he will be a bargain if he decided to play within the team concept and dedicate himself. Projection: 7-FA |
