Biography: Started nine games as a senior and posted career numbers of 25/291/2. Junior totals included 12/228/5.
Positives: Nice-sized, sure-handed possession receiver who does the little things well. Sells routes, shows sharpness into breaks and quickness on exit. On the same page as his quarterback, works back to the passer and makes himself an available target. Keeps the play in bounds and works to pick up yardage running after the reception. Displays good focus, concentration, as well as eye/hand coordination. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and protect the ball. Will expose himself to the big hit in order to come away with a grab. Nicely adjusts to the errant throw and makes the reception in stride. Terrific downfield blocker who really helps ball-carriers pick up the extra yardage.
Negatives: Overall game lacks speed and does not show a burst. Marginally productive at Florida and never displayed himself as a red-zone threat.
Analysis: Nelson did an admirable job in the Gator offense, where he was not one of the top options. Offers all the skills necessary to be a fifth receiver at the next level, and his downfield blocking will enamor him to coaches.
