PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors the past two seasons. Senior totals included 62/15.5/6.5 after 74/19.5/10.5
as a junior.
Positives: Small yet hard-working defender who makes plays sideline to sideline. Fires off the snap with a quick first step, built low to the ground and naturally gets leverage on opponents. Breaks down well, effectively slides down the line, and plays heads-up football. Fast in every direction of the field, quickly changes direction, and relentless in his pursuit of the action. Effectively diagnoses plays, possesses a burst of straight-line speed and is a solid athlete. Plays with good balance, stays with the action and rarely off his feet. Plays heads-up football, does not bite on play-action passes and stays with assignments. Negatives: Has size limitations and easily out positioned by opponents or engulfed at the point of attack. Very average speed. Analysis: Kirlew has been tremendously productive on the college level and is a competitive player who never gives up. He possesses poor size/speed numbers yet his hustle and approach to the game will help him find a home on a roster, potentially as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment. Brings a special teams mentality. Projection: 6th |
