Calvin Wilson
Biography: Former Southern Mississippi lineman awarded All-Conference honors at North Alabama as a senior, his only year with the program.
Part-time starter as a junior as a sophomore at Southern Miss.
Positives: Massive blocker who has displayed dominant and athleticism throughout his college career. Sets with a wide base, works to stays square and gets his hands into defenders. Moves his feet well, displays adequate footwork off the edge and easily controls defenders once engaged at the point of attack. Jolts opponents with good hand punch and knocks them from their angle of attack on the blitz. Engulfs opponents or easily out positions them from the action with his wide body. Negatives: Lumbers about the field and really not light on his feet. Struggles to adjust. Overweight and poorly conditioned. Must improve his blocking balance. Analysis: Wilson is a prospect who has flashed a lot of ability since his sophomore season at Southern Mississippi. He never took his game to the next level and issues with his weight have always been a problem. Possesses the natural size, strength, and athleticism to play at the next level, yet unless he dedicates himself to off-the-field conditioning, he's unlikely to make it out of camp this summer.
