Biography: Part-time starter the past two seasons, lining up at both tight end and fullback. Senior totals included pass-catching numbers of 8/75/2. Injured his foot and missed the last six games of the year. Junior pass catching totals included 12/104/4.
Positives: Hard-working college player with ability as a traditional fullback. Quickly gets out of his stance, accelerates into blocks ,and turns defenders from the action. Plays with an aggressive attitude, squares into opponents and works to finish blocks. Solid receiver out of the backfield who adjusts, extends his hands, and looks the pass in.
Negatives: Shows marginal speed in his game. Not effective blocking in space or on the second level.
Analysis: Brockel is a traditional lead blocker and one-dimensional player who offers limited ability as an offensive threat. He could be a good addition for a power running offense.
