Biography: Two-year starter at center awarded All-Conference honors as a senior.
Positives: Explosive college blocker lacking in strength and athleticism. Plays with great quickness, stays square and keeps his feet moving. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage and immediately gets his hands into defenders. Tremendous leader on the offensive line and displays great awareness.
Negatives: Lacks lower body strength and the ability to finish blocks. Must improve the consistency of a shotgun snaps.
Analysis: Matthews has been a solid performer for Texas A&M the past two seasons yet does not show the strength to be used in a power running offense or the agility for a zone blocking scheme. Possesses good height and has some growth potential, which must be met if he's to make an NFL level.
