Biography: Former tight end who promptly moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2007 when switched to the defensive line. Struggled with a groin injury as a senior and finished the year with 13/3.5/1 after playing in just five games. Junior totals included 39/6/1.5 area
Positives: Nice-sized defensive end prospect with a large degree of upside. Plays with good pad level, quickly gets off the snap with a nice first step, and always on balance. Explosive, fluid moving about the field, and rarely off his feet. Quickly gets his hands up to protect himself, keeps his feet moving on contact, and fights throughout the action. Immediately regains his balance off the initial block and makes plays up the field or out to the flanks. Displays ability in pursuit and quickly changes direction.
Negatives: Lacks bulk and at times easily steered from the action. Marginal playing speed. Minimally productive the past three years.
Analysis: Coming into the 2009 season, expectations were high for Lorig yet a groin injury dampened his results. He's a solid athlete and good developmental prospect with potential at defensive end on a conventional four-man line.
