Danny McCray
Biography: Part-time starter the past three seasons who totaled 44 tackles as a senior after 53 the prior year. Career numbers of 64/2/3
came during his sophomore season.
Positives: Adequately sized safety most effective playing between the numbers. Displays above-average instincts, effectively positions himself against opponents, and possesses good hands for the interception. Quickly closes to the action of a burst of speed, voluntarily defends the run, and wraps up tackling. Displays a good head for the ball in run defense as well as a feel for coverage. Negatives: Easily blocked from the action by a single opponent. Lacks top sideline-to-sideline range. Analysis: McCray has displayed flashes of skill throughout his college career, yet he never elevated his game the way many thought possible. He offers potential in a zone system, yet he will have to make his mark on special teams for any opportunity to stick on a roster. Projection: FA |
