Sergio Render
Biography: Four-year starter at the guard position awarded All-Conference honors as a senior.
Positives: Fundamentally sound lineman best in pass protection. Plays with good knee bend, keeps his feet moving, and blocks with a wide base. Keeps his head on a swivel and works well with teammates. Correctly places his hands into defenders, extends them, and jolts opponents with good punch. Plays with a nasty attitude and always looking to hit someone. Displays quickness if asked to pull across the line of scrimmage and shows ability blocking in motion. Negatives: Marginal run blocker who gets minimal movement. Displays stiffness in his game and struggles adjust to defenders on the blitz. Analysis: Render has been a productive and durable college lineman who started 52 games at Virginia Tech. He's a limited athlete and does not possess great upside, yet he has a relatively polished game and could be effective backing up at the next level. Projection: FA |
