PLAYERS
Biography: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after totals of 65/13/6.5. Junior numbers included 46 tackles
and eight tackles for loss after 50 tackles as a sophomore.
Positives: Undersized yet athletic linebacker coming off uninspired play the past two seasons. Fluid moving in every direction of the field, scrapes well laterally, and displays ability in pursuit. Finds his way through the trash to make tackles, and wraps up at the point of attack. Gets depth on pass drops, remains disciplined with assignments and has a nice burst to the action. Negatives: Marginally instinctive and very late to react. Must improve his playing balance. Shows marginal explosion in his game. Analysis: As a sophomore starting on the Seminole defense, Watson displayed a lot of potential and looked like he would be the next top linebacker prospect from the program. His play has leveled off, and Watson has played marginal football the past two season. He possesses the basic athleticism to succeed at the next level, yet his size limitations will only fit certain schemes. He must get his game back up to par to have any chance of making a final roster. Projection: FA |
