Biography: Four-year starter who finished with 79/8.5/2.5 as a senior when he also broke up five passes. Junior totals included 70/.5/1.5 with two interceptions.
Positives: Complete college linebacker who lacks the size/speed numbers for the next level. Tough, physical and stacks well against the run. Scrapes well laterally, aggressively puts his shoulders into ball-carriers and plays with a large degree of explosion. Always looking to get involved, remains disciplined with assignments, and effectively reads the action. Forceful up the field and hustles to make plays. Gets depth on pass drops and shows a feel for coverage.
Negatives: Not a strong tackler. Displays little in the way of pursuit speed. Worked out poorly in the off-season.
Analysis: Lavine has been very productive the pass four seasons at Oklahoma State and offers enough skill to be an eighth linebacker/special teams player for an NFL team.
