Biography: Full-time starter the past two seasons after seeing extensive action with the first team as a sophomore. Senior totals included 44/13.5/6.5 after 39 tackles and 10 tackles for loss as a junior.
Positives: Athletic and explosive college defensive end with a large degree of upside potential. Quick off the snap, fast off the edge, and displays ability pursuing the ball handler from the back side. Quickly changes direction or immediately alters his angle of attack and makes plays in every direction of the field. Strong for size, defeats blocks by tight end, and gets up the field to make plays. Attacks opposing ball handlers and plays with a nasty attitude. Displays violent punch with his hands.
Negatives: Undersized and struggles to get off blocks once engaged the point. Should be more productive as a pass rusher.
Analysis: Johnson is a solid athlete and a prospect with adequate size and growth potential. He could line up over left tackle at the next level and will have a long, productive career if he gets stronger.
