Biography: Junior college transfer who moves into the starting lineup as a sophomore at Utah. All-Conference selection as a senior after totals of 70/6/6. Junior numbers included 41/4/3.
Positives: Opportunistic defensive back with an improving game. Solid athlete who displays good awareness as well as speed to the sidelines. Plays heads-up football, displays a sense of timing, and shows good ball skills. Gets vertical over opponents and nicely adjusts to defend the throw or come away with the interception. Hard hitter who looks to intimidates opponents. Aggressive in all areas of the game yet also plays disciplined football.
Negatives: Lacks fluid footwork moving in reverse. Has more built-up speed and takes a while to get going. Over-pursues the action and occasionally takes incorrect angles to plays.
Analysis: After showing flashes of ability the prior two seasons, Johnson really put together a complete game last year. He's a smooth centerfielder with the ability to play sideline to sideline, and he just needs to refine the details of his position before he's NFL ready.
