Biography: Former Miami of Florida transfer who broke into the starting lineup last season then posted career numbers of 236/1188 4/12 on the ground, while adding 31/283/46 as a pass catcher.
Positives: Smallish, elusive ball carrier who creates his own yardage. Sets up defenders, makes them miss, and possesses explosive footwork that enables him to sidestep defenders or avoid piles. Very elusive, displays great quickness in his game, and follows blocks everywhere on the field. Runs with good lean and will pick and choose spots on the inside. Effectively reads the blitz then works to become the hot receiver out of the backfield. Solid pass catcher.
Negatives: Cannot break tackles or pick up yardage off initial contact and easily brought down by the first defender. One-speed back who cannot outrun defenders into the open field.
Analysis: McNeal stepped up his game last season when given an opportunity and has the necessary skills to be a third down/situational back at the next level.
