Biography: All-Conference selection as a junior after becoming a full-time starter and posted 45/9.5/8. Sophomore totals included 18/6/4.5.
Positives: Athletic defensive line prospect with a nice degree of upside potential. Plays with terrific pad level, fluid moving in every direction of the field, and makes plays laterally or in a straight line. Loses little momentum when he must immediately alter his angle of attack, displays a burst of speed, and shows ability in pursuit. Covers a lot of area on the field and makes a lot of athletic plays.
Negatives: Marginally productive the past three seasons. Slow locating the ball and not very instinctive. Lacks great power and is handled at the point of attack.
Analysis: Griffin is a solid defensive lineman yet a prospect whose play on the field does not match his headlines. Needs a lot of development in his game, and he really must improve the ability to read and react to the action quicker before ever moving into a starting lineup at the next level.
