PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Sherdrick Bonner threw for four touchdowns and ran for another as the Arizona Rattlers topped the visiting expansion Detroit Fury, 52-44, in their first-round playoff matchup. Bonner, who helped lead Arizona to the postseason for the ninth consecutive year, completed 20-of-28 attempts for 217 yards with one interception. Bonner's third TD pass of the night, a 4-yard toss to Randy Gatewood 3:25 into the fourth quarter, put the Rattlers ahead for good, 43-38, and ensured the franchise its 12th all-time postseason victory (12-5) and a berth in the next round. Maurice Bryant caught seven passes for 73 yards and three scores for Arizona, which lost two of its final three games coming into tonight's playoff action. The Rattlers also recorded three rushing TDs, one by Bonner, one by Bo Kelly and one by Chris Horn. Scot Semptimphelter collected six TDs in a losing effort, five through the air and a first-quarter, one-yard run for Detroit, which was appearing in its first-ever playoff game in its inaugural season. Robert Gordon notched a game-high nine catches and 105 yards and caught a TD pass in the first quarter. Tommie Boyd chipped in with eight grabs and 93 yards for the Fury, which won its season finale versus Indiana last week to make the playoffs.
