Record: 7-4, 4-4 SEC
Coach: David Cutcliffe, first full year (8-4)
Top Off. Player: RB Deuce McCallister (809 rushing yards, 13 overall TDs)
Top Def. Player: DT Kendrick Clancy (17 tackles for loss)
Season Summary:
Rebels fans are ticked about not going to a better bowl, but it's hard to defend their position. Ole Miss had only one win over a significant opponent, Arkansas, lost to Vanderbilt and dropped their last two games. They do have a powder keg in McCallister, more dangerous as a return man than a rusher, a solid QB in Romaro Miller and a 950-yard rusher in Joe Gunn. Cutliffe has turned the offense up a notch while continuing to emphasize a tradition of stingy defense in Oxford.

Coach: Bob Stoops, first year
Top Off. Player: QB Josh Heupel (3,448 yards, 30 TDs)
Top Def. Player: S Rodney Rideau, (111 tackles, four pass deflections)
Season Summary:
Stoops and offensive coordinator Mike Leach installed a pass-happy offense this year and the result was school passing records shattered by Heupel. The offense shined in a 51-6 thrashing of Texas A&M and a 44-7 defeat of Oklahoma State in the final game. Brandon Daniels emerged as a star kick returner as well.
