No matter what else the Horned Frogs did in 1999, they will be forever remembered for Tomlinson's NCAA-record 406-yard day against UTEP on Nov. 20. The nation's leading rusher also notched 300- and 269-yard games during TCU's inconsistent year, one in which it rebounded from a 3-4 start.

The Pirates captivated America's hearts in September when they knocked off Miami in a home game moved to N.C. State's stadium due to Hurricane Floyd. A disappointing loss to UAB cost them a chance at the C-USA title, but ECU also scored impressive wins over West Virginia and N.C. State.
