Record: 6-5, 4-4 SEC
Coach: Hal Mumme, third year (18-16)
Top Off. Player: TE James Whalen (90 catches, 1,019 yards, 10 TDs)
Top Def. Player: S Anthony Wajda (68 tackles, five INTs)
Season Summary:
QB Dusty Bonner did a nice job inheriting the reins of Mumme's offense this year from Tim Couch. He engineered impressive wins over Indiana, Arkansas and LSU. But the Wildcats were often brought back to reality by the SEC's upper-echelon teams like Florida and Tennessee. Previously known for high-scoring shootouts, Kentucky toned things down in late-season games against Mississippi State (23-22) and Vanderbilt (19-17), proving its defense is finally catching up with the offense.

Record: 6-5, 3-4 Big East
Coach: Paul Pasqualoni, ninth year (74-31-1; 108-48-1)
Top Off. Player: RB Dee Brown (741 yards, 5.1 per carry)
Top Def. Player: LB Keith Bulluck (135 tackles, 11 for loss)
Season Summary:
Another case of an emotionally-torn season, Syracuse has been in a state of shock since a stabbing incident that injured starting defenders David Byrd and Duke Pettijohn. It's been a tumultuous year on the field as well, as the defense failed to live up to expectations and the Orange suffered blowout losses to Virginia Tech and Miami and a loss to Rutgers after nearly upsetting Michigan early on.
