Scouting report
This season, it's up to Trevor Insley to make his own noise. In each of the last two seasons, Insley was the No. 2 option in the Wolf Pack passing attack and No. 2 in Big West receiving yards. In each category he trailed former teammate Geoff Noisy, who took his NCAA Division I-A record 295 career receptions to the Bengals as a free agent. In '99 Insley returns as the best receiver in the conference and, thanks to the kid quarterback, David Neill, could become the most productive receiver in the nation.

While Insley (128 receptions, 2,371 yards) was only a few steps behind Noisy (180 receptions, 2,589 yards) in 1997 and '98, he made the most of his touches as a sophomore and junior. Insley scored 17 touchdowns (to Noisy's 11) over the last two seasons and averaged 18.5 yards per catch (to Noisy's 14.4) in that time.

Last season Insley ranked 13th in the nation in receiving yards (1,220) and seventh in receiving yards per game (110.9) -- Noisy was third with 127.7 ypg. Only once over the last two seasons has Insley completed a game with fewer than 10 yards per catch, and in each of those seasons he led the Wolf Pack in touchdown receptions. So it should come as no surprise that in '99 the buzz surrounding Nevada's passing offense is just as loud -- without being all Noisy.
