The Plot

The Road to BCS Payday Four seasons after taking the reins at Tech, George O'Leary has the Yellow Jackets ready to put the sting on the ACC. Only one problem, Tech has to travel to Tallahassee in the second week of the season to face conference king FSU, which has never lost an ACC game at home. Win or lose against the Seminoles, the Yellow Jackets have the offensive firepower to get to a BCS bowl. But do they have the defense?

The Director

George O'Leary -- fourth season, 28-21 overall

Starring

QB Joe Hamilton -- The school where Heisman made his mark as a coach finally has a bona fide candidate for his trophy.
WR Dez White -- Caught nine TD passes in '98, will see plenty of double-teams this season.

Co-starring

OT Jon Carman -- Was once known for being one of the biggest guys in the ACC, now known for his ever-increasing skill.
LB Chris Edwards -- Yellow Jackets hope to use his speed at outside linebacker.
DE Felipe Claybrooks -- Was third in ACC in sacks last season just playing in passing situations.
S Travares Tillman -- Will be key in what was a porous secondary last season.

And introducing

K Luke Manget -- One of two new kickers for the Yellow Jackets this season.

Why it will work

Offensive coordinator Ralph Freidgen has Tech primed to score 35 or more points per game with Hamilton at the helm.

Why it won't

Trip to Tallahassee coupled with Swiss-cheese defense will keep Tech from finishing in top 10.
