The Plot

The only good news for Coach Pees: It can only get better from here. How much better is contingent upon the defense improving on a winless season in which it allowed 41.3 points a game. Offensively, there's actually reason for hope at Kent, where potential stars emerged as freshmen last year at both tailback and receiver

Ensemble cast

RB DeMarlo Rozier -- Rushed for 613 yards as a frosh, mostly in second half.
WR Jurron Kelly -- Will be primary receiver as a sophomore.
QB Jose Davis -- Was unbelievable in '97, unbelievably bad last year.
SS Geoff Betts -- Only returning starter in secondary.

Well ... it probably won't.

Defense was too atrocious in '98 to become instantly competitive.
