The Plot
The team coming off a 3-9 season loses its QB, two-time all-WAC selection Graham Leigh, and top running back. That said, the Lobos lost more games because of their defense, which allowed 33.10 points per game.
The DirectorRocky Long -- second year, 3-9
StarringDB Brian Urlacher -- Giant hitter in the secondary (6'4", 235) led the nation with 178 tackles in '98.
Co-starringLB Martinez Williams -- Williams will need a QB to emerge, but averaged 15.5 yards per catch last season and led the team with seven TDs and 760 yards receiving.
And introducingFB Ted Iacenda -- The 230-pound former SuperPrep All-America transferred from USC and may be counted on immediately to help the running and short passing game.
Why it will workThe starting O-line returns almost intact and Urlacher is a force, perhaps the rest of the defense can follow suit.
Why it won'tSee The Plot.
