The Plot

OK, so Craig Harmon was a bona fide football player, but he was the sixth-string, walk-on quarterback. Pressed into action under bizarre circumstances, Harmon led the Huskies to their first two wins in two years. Now, NIU should actually have competition at the quarterback position, which is good, because depth is of a premium everywhere else on the squad.

The Director

Joe Novak -- fourth season, 3-30.

Ensemble cast

FS Donnovan Carter -- One of MAC's premier defenders; registered 124 tackles last year.
WR Justin McCareins -- If someone can get it to him, McCareins will catch it, like he did 12 times in one game.
T Ryan Diem -- A 325-pound giant of all-conference proportion.

Why it will work

NIU on way up after getting 23-loss monkey off its back.

Why it won't

Still shy on talent and depth, especially on defense.
