Clemson RB Cyrgalis breaks ankle Posted: Friday April 02, 1999 06:53 PM
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Running back Pat Cyrgalis will miss the rest of spring practice after breaking his right ankle during a drill. Cyrgalis had X-rays Thursday night and was to undergo surgery Friday, sports information director Tim Bourret said. He was expected to be ready for August practices, Bourret said. Running backs coach Burton Burns had called the redshirt freshman his most consistent player this spring. "We'll plug him in somewhere, he'll play," head coach Tommy Bowden said. Cyrgalis, at 6 feet and 245 pounds, worked at tight end last year, but was moved back to running back this spring. Clemson's leading rusher, Travis Zachery, was suspended for the spring after his arrest on a disorderly conduct charge. Second-leading rusher Javis Austin continues to undergo tests after suffering from dizziness earlier this week. Clemson holds its second full-scale scrimmage on Saturday.
