Devilish dash Redmond's 78-yard run highlights ASU's scrimmagePosted: Thursday April 08, 1999 11:54 PM
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- J.R. Redmond scored on a 78-yard run to highlight Thursday night's scrimmage that capped Arizona State's spring football practice. Redmond, a senior next season, finished with 92 yard on 15 carries. The Sun Devils, coming off a 5-6 season, looked ineffective on defense with only five linebackers returning plus an inexperienced secondary. Erik Flowers did have four sacks in the scrimmage, however. Gerald Green had a 26-yard TD run and Davaren Hightower scored from 14 yards out. Starting quarterback Ryan Kealy completed 6 of 8 passes for 70 yards with backup Matt Cooper hitting on 4 of 6 for 42 yards. Arizona State opens its season Sept. 4 against Texas Tech.
