Boston College's Sean Ryan exults after recovering one of Arizona State's five turnovers. AP

Eagles soar over Hawaii

Boston College bids ASU's Snyder rude farewell

Having already contributed heavily to Arizona State's disappointing season and coach Bruce Snyder's subsequent dismissal, injuries and turnovers doomed the Sun Devils one final time. Boston College rolled 31-17 in Monday's Aloha Bowl, a game in which ASU turned it over five times lost starting QB Jeff Krohn to injury.

Record: 6-5, 3-5 Pac-10
Bruce Snyder (ninth season, 56-45; 126-105-5 overall)
Key players:
TE Todd Heap (617 yards), LB Adam Archuleta (119 tackles), DE Terrell Suggs (10 sacks)
Season summary:
The Sun Devils had a decent season, but apparently not good enough to save the lame-duck Snyder's job. With rotating players at both QB (Griffin Goodman, Jeff Krohn) and tailback (Tom Pace, Mike Williams), the offense mostly struggled, outside a 55-point effort in an overtime loss to Oregon. The Devils are marked more by their swarming defense, led by the fiesty Archuleta and freshman standout Suggs.

Record: 6-5, 3-4 Big East
Tom O'Brien (fourth season, 22-23)
Key players:
RB William Green (1,164 yards, 14 TDs), QB Tim Hasselbeck (1,810 yards, 16 TDs)
Season summary:
The Eagles have a pair of exceptional backs in Green and Cedric Washington, who was the main man last season before being supplanted by the younger Green. And Hasselbeck is decent when healthy. But the Eagles are hurt by a young, unimposing defense. B.C., whose only victory of any merit came against Syracuse, don't exactly come to Hawaii on a roll, having lost to Notre Dame and Miami, the latter a 52-6 whipping.
