Anquan Boldin With fellow receiver Snoop Minnis out of the Orange Bowl, Anquan Boldin will have some more attention. Scott Halleran/Allsport

Sports Illustrated college football writer Ivan Maisel breaks down the key matchup for each of the four Bowl Championship Series games.

Florida State receivers Atrews Bell and Anquan Boldin vs. Oklahoma cornerbacks Michael Thompson and Derrick Strait

Snoop Minnis, who failed to pass enough hours to remain eligible for the Orange Bowl, will be missed, and not just because he enjoyed one of the best receiving seasons (63 catches, 1,340 yards, 11 touchdowns) in Florida State history. Minnis served as quarterback Chris Weinke's blankie. When Weinke felt pressure, he looked for Snoop.

Still, the Seminoles may have the deepest receiving corps in the nation. For instance, in two games this season, three different Florida State receivers had 100-yard efforts. Now either Bell or Boldin must step up and be the Man.

Thompson is the better cover man of the Sooners' two corners, which is not to slight Strait. Because Oklahoma safeties J.T. Thatcher and Roy Williams like to play close to the line of scrimmage to help stop the run, how well Weinke can decipher that defense without the security of Minnis will be the key to the game.
