CNNSI.com's bowl projections
By Stewart Mandel, CNNSI.com
There have been several changes to the bowl lanscape this year.
The New Orleans Bowl arrives, playing host to the first champion of the new Sun Belt Conference (only one of whose members had a winning record last year). The former Aloha and Oahu Bowls move to decidedly less inviting holiday destinations, Seattle and San Francisco. And the MicronPC.com Bowl is currently shelved but could be resurrected in time for the season, moving from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando.
Most notably, though, the Rose Bowl moves from its traditional New Year's Day spot to Jan. 3, playing host to the national title game. In its place is the Fiesta, which already has an agreement to pit the Big 12 and Pac-10 champs if not No. 1 or 2.
The fate of the Big Ten champion should it miss the Rose Bowl is less clear. Though judging by the preseason rankings, perhaps its teams should worry about becoming bowl eligible first.
