Herschel Walker (1982)
In 1982, after remarkable freshman and sophomore years, Georgia running back Herschel Walker became the seventh junior in history to win the Heisman trophy, beating out John Elway and Eric Dickerson. "When I won it I was happy," Walker said. "I was happy because I finally got what everybody else wanted me to get but it made me think, 'Did you give it to me because you were supposed to give it to me earlier?'" Walker may indeed have been honored for his stunning career. He had 50 touchdowns in 32 games and more than 5,000 yards rushing as he led the Bulldogs to a three-year record of 32-2. As a freshman, he took Georgia to the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame for the national championship. "We looked over at Notre Dame, the size of those guys and we were like, wow," Walker said. "And we looked around at us and we thought we were OK, but geez!" Walker rushed for 150 yards that day and scored twice for a 17-10 victory. After a 15-year pro career, Walker is now manufacturing his own sport drink, Aloe Lu-Ya.
