He finally has the starting job to himself and he proved it with an 18-of-32, 301-yard effort.
The Buckeyes proved their No. 1 worth as the offense had their way with the West Virginia defense and the defense shut down Amos Zereoue.

No. 3 Florida 49, The Citadel 9-0 Florida's record in season openers since Steve Spurrier took over as coach. Jesse Palmer, QB, Florida
The new Gator QB is rounding into form throwing for 301 yards and 4 TDs.
Despite the margin of victory, Florida looked a tad rusty with The Citadel got a little self-confidence heading into their real season

The Irish stunned the defending champions with a spirited second-half attack led by Jackson and Autry Denson.

Brock Huard, QB, UW The junior was 27-of-47 for 321 yards and 4 TDs, including the miraculous game-winner. The best game of the weekend was a mighty slugfest that was won on Huard's 67-yard pass to Reggie Davis on 4th and 17 with 28 seconds left.

Jeff Hall's 27-yard FG gave the Vols a wild win and nullified Donovan McNabb's 300-yard passing effort. Tee Martin sparkled in his first start taking over for Peyton Manning.

Travis Prentice, RB, Miami Shredded the Tar Heel defense for 162 yards on 37 carries with a TD UNC QB Oscar Davenport injured his knee early and the Tar Heel offense struggled under freshman Ronald Curry. The RedHawks add UNC to a list of road upsets that include Virginia Tech and Northwestern.

What was supposed to a great intrastate battle turned into a Rocky Mountain rout as Colorado outscored the Rams 29-7 in the second half.

Picking up from last year's strong finish, Brooks passed for 220 yards and a TD.
The Arizona's Chris McAlister opened the game with a 100-yard kickoff return, and the Wildcats cruised from that point forward.

Carter, named starter just days earlier, led a very potent Bulldogs offense as Georgia completely outclassed the Golden Flashes.

The third-string RB filled in for an injured Ron Dayne and ran 113 yards on 28 carries .
The Badgers struggled on offense early on without Ron Dayne but rallied in the second half to knock off the pesky Aztecs.

However, the Golden Knights could also run the ball, which was more than enough to rout the Bulldogs.
