Three Washington St. players arrested Posted: Monday May 17, 1999 11:10 PM
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Washington State starting running back Kevin Brown and two teammates were released from jail Monday after their arrests for investigation of burglary and theft at a student's apartment. The three were released on their own recognizance after an appearance in Whitman County Superior Court, deputy prosecutor Ron Shirley said. Formal charges of residential burglary and first-degree theft are pending, he said. Authorities have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file charges, he said. Brown, 20, Ramin White and Jason White were arrested about 2:15 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex across the street from a student apartment where electronics were stolen, Pullman Police Sgt. Dan Dornes said. Ramin White, 19, is a running back and Jason White, 20, is a wide receiver. They are not related. The men were arrested after witnesses said they saw them enter an apartment through an unlocked back door and leave with a laptop computer and other electronics gear, Dornes said. Police said $1,900 worth of equipment was recovered. Coach Mike Price was out of town on a recruiting trip. Sports information director Rod Commons said he talked with Price by telephone and Price declined to comment until he could talk to the players and authorities. Brown, of West Covina, Calif., rushed for a team-leading 1,046 yards last season, a school record for a sophomore. Ramin White will be a redshirt freshman and Jason White will be a sophomore this season.
