Junior Mahe faces honor code violation Posted: Wednesday June 16, 1999 09:13 AM
PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Brigham Young sophomore running back Junior Mahe is being investigated for possible Honor Code violations. "There is review taking place right now, but no decision has been reached," university spokesperson Carri Jenkins said Tuesday. Mahe's purported violation was not disclosed. The Mormon church-owned school's Honor Code prohibits, among other things, premarital sex, the use of alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs, and academic cheating. Neither Mahe nor his family could be reached for comment. As a freshman last season, Mahe rushed for 425 yards on 87 carries and scoring seven touchdowns. Running back Ronney Jenkins (no relation to Carri Jenkins) was expelled in December for his second Honor Code violation, both reportedly for sexual transgressions. His departure later was relabeled from 'expelled' to "withdrew," enabling him to transfer to a Division I-AA school without having to wait out a year, and he has since enrolled at Northern Arizona. In addition to Jenkins, cornerback Heshi Robertson was suspended prior to the Liberty Bowl for an Honor Code violation. Robertson is expected back next season.
