Player of the WeekShaun Alexander, RB, Alabama. With all due respect to Purdue numbers whizzes Drew Brees and Chris Daniels, Alexander gets the nod for what is fast becoming his "average" day: 36 carries, 214 yards (against a defense that had been surrendering 45 a game) and three TDs, keying the Tide's 30-24 victory over SEC West foe Ole Miss.
Team of the WeekVirginia Tech. So maybe Syracuse isn't what it used to be. But so far this season, it hadn't been far off (remember Michigan?), making the Hokies' 62-0 demolition that much more staggering.
Unsung HeroAnthony Wajda, FS, Kentucky. Had two interceptions -- his third and fourth in last three games -- as the often forgotten Wildcats defense held LSU to 227 yards in a 31-5 win.
