K-State backs face charges Wildcats' leading rusher must appear in courtPosted: Monday November 15, 1999 12:42 AM
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Kansas State running backs Joe Hall and Chris Claybon were ordered Sunday to appear in court on municipal alcohol infractions, police said. A Riley County Police Department officer issued the notices shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday in a city lot near the Kansas State campus, Sgt. Joshua Kile said. Hall, a junior who turned 20 on Nov. 3, was cited as an alleged minor in possession of alcohol, Kile said. Claybon, a junior who turned 22 on Oct. 31, was cited for alleged possession of an open container of alcohol in public, Kile said. Both were ordered to appear in city court in Manhattan, probably on or after Nov. 30, Kile said Sunday night. Hall is Kansas State's leading rusher with 603 yards and six touchdowns through Saturday's 41-15 loss to Nebraska at Lincoln. The 300-pounder transfered from Palomar (Calif.) Community College, where he was a first-team All-America, and started the season at fullback before becoming the starter at running back. Claybon, of Tulsa, Okla., is a reserve running back and has seen limited action in Kansas State's backfield. He has played in seven games, rushing for 26 yards and one touchdown.
