AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville on Monday suspended two players arrested last week on charges of firing a gun on campus during a fraternity event attended by about 300 people.

Tuberville said freshman wide receiver Deandre Green, 19, and sophomore defensive back Brandon Reed, 20, will remain off the team until authorities resolve the misdemeanor charges.

Green, charged with reckless endangerment, allegedly fired a shot to get the attention of several people engaged in an altercation, campus police said. Reed was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm.

"We have rules, guidelines, and standards in our program that we expect our players to follow," Tuberville said in a statement. "When we feel that these standards have not been met, we will take disciplinary action."

Green, one of the Tigers' top recruits two years ago, re-signed with Auburn after spending a year at prep school to qualify academically. Reed played in all 11 games on special teams last season.
