Damien Anderson rushed for 292 yards on 36 carries for four touchdowns against Indiana. AP |
ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) -- Damien Anderson could easily be winning his third straight CNNSI.com player of the week award by now. Each of the previous two weeks, when he ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns against Wisconsin and 219 yards and two scores against Michigan State, he was considered but barely edged out.
This week, it's no contest. The junior became the first player in school history to notch consecutive 200-yard games, this time with a whopping 292 yards and four TDs on 36 carries in the Wildcats' 52-33 defeat of Indiana. Anderson becomes the nation's first 1,000-yard rusher this season (1,050 yards, 7.4 ypc) and is its third-leading rusher by average (175.0 per game).
Others who received consideration: TCU RB LaDainian Tomlinson, who ran for a season-best 294 yards against Hawaii; Miami LB Dan Morgan, who notched 15 tackles and an interception in the Hurricanes' upset of Florida State; and the Canes' Ken Dorsey, who was 27-of-42 for 328 yards and the game-winning TD.
