Rodney Harvey Rodney Harvey and Illinois moved up six spots on Ivan Maisel's ballot without even playing. AP

Each week, Sports Illustrated college football writer Ivan Maisel discloses his ballot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

I am writing you from the ward of the New York Hospital for Treatment of Migraines, where I checked myself in after trying to construct this week's vote.

Saturday's games turned what I thought was an orderly season into goulash. I feel confident of my ranking of the top eight teams.

After that, there are more holes than in all the cheese in Switzerland. I applaud Illinois, which had the good sense not to play Saturday and moved up six spots because of it.

I got religion on BYU, so to speak. But what to do with Syracuse? North Carolina? Washington?

As for the top two, I didn't really think too hard about this one. If Nebraska had beaten Oklahoma in Norman, I probably would have moved the Huskers to No. 1.

As we have been saying to 'Cane fans, it only matters where you are on Dec. 8. If you're one or two, you're doing fine.
