Ivan Maisel's Top 25

Travis Stephens Travis Stephens and Tennessee took their first victory in Gainesville since 1971. AP

I think Tennessee winning on the road is more impressive than Oregon winning at home. The Ducks' narrow margin didn't bother me given the awful weather and the fact that it was their rivalry game.

I went ahead and moved Colorado past a group of one-loss teams, because I think right now they're better than those teams. I think it is our civic duty to all root for Tennessee this week, because if they lose, and the computers put Nebraska into the Rose Bowl instead of Oregon or Colorado, I predict college football's version of a nuclear winter.

I thought Virginia Tech against Miami was the Virginia Tech we all thought they were at midseason, so I moved the Hokies up even in defeat. They did their best to show that good quarterback play isn't necessary to beat a No. 1 team, and they darn near pulled it off.

Welcome back to Toledo, with as impressive a comeback victory over a good team as I can remember, although their ability to beat Marshall is testament that playoff games shouldn't be played at home sites.

And if it makes N.C. State feel any better, they're No. 26 in my book.
